Description

Experience the majesty of Kilimanjaro with the Machame route, often hailed as the most scenic way to climb Africa's tallest mountain. The trek begins at the Machame Gate on the southwestern side of the mountain and descends via the Mweka route in the southeast, providing a rich variety of landscapes along the journey. Along the way, you'll traverse iconic spots like the Shira Plateau, the challenging Baranco Wall, and the unique Lava Tower. Dubbed the "Whiskey Route" because of its steeper and more challenging terrain, the Machame route is best suited for trekkers seeking a more demanding experience. Unlike the Marangu route, known as the "Coca-Cola Route," where climbers sleep in huts, the Machame route requires camping in tents, adding to its adventurous appeal. The Machame route is ideal for those who are confident in their stamina and enjoy longer, more strenuous hikes. While the minimum duration for this route is six days, our recommended seven-day expedition allows for additional rest and acclimatization before the final push to the summit. The descent is via the Mweka route, rounding out the experience with even more stunning views. Join us for an unforgettable journey to the Roof of Africa, where every step is a testament to your endurance and spirit of adventure.
